Foster Care

Foster Care Services works with licensed foster homes within the surrounding communities of Jeffersonville, IN. Trained foster parents, under the supervision of Childplace, provide a safe environment for children who have special needs or who have been subject to abuse or neglect.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS:

  • Healthy patterns of discipline are utilized while primary relationships are mended
  • Spiritual growth is encouraged
  • Respite care and step down services provided
  • Case Managers on call 24 hours per day - 7 days a week
  • Intensive case management is utilized to maintain contact with parents, caseworkers and foster parents

FOSTER PARENT LICENSURE PROCESS: (Regular, Special Needs and Therapeutic)


Basic requirements:

  • Must be 25 or older
  • Married couples or single individuals
  • Prefer non-smokers
  • Submit an application with four references
  • Child protective services background checks for anyone 18 and over living in the home
  • Criminal background checks for anyone 18 and over living in the home
  • Home Study
  • Financial Profile
  • Safety check of home
  • Physical Exam and TB test
  • First Aid, CPR and Disease Prevention certification
  • Complete initial state required foster parent curriculum (minimum 20 hours)
  • Mandatory yearly training/recertification
