Residential Treatment

The Residential Treatment Program uses specialized therapeutic care to serve children ages 7 - 18 with various types of problems and from numerous situations.

  • Children with clinical diagnosis that necessitate a comprehensive treatment program
  • Children troubled by abuse, neglect, family relationships, and/or peer relationships
  • Abandoned children and/or children who have been in numerous placements
  • Status offenders and incorrigible children who are slow to learn from bad decisions
  • Children acting out due to poor self-esteem and depression
  • Children needing time in a highly structured environment before being returned or placed in foster care

Residents receive individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, computer guided tutoring, accountability training, life skills training, survivors group (if needed), psychiatric evaluation, milieu therapy, and drug and alcohol assessment and treatment. Healthy patterns of discipline are taught to residents and parents while broken relationships are mended.

All Psychotropic medications are evaluated monthly by a psychiatrist. Parents or parent figures have a weekly meal and two weekend visitation opportunities with their children. Whenever possible, we strive to reunite children with family. When re-unifying is not possible, we aid in successful transition to foster care or adoption.
We also offer Independent Living classes (ages 14 - 18) and Transitional Living (ages 17 - 21) to help build self-sufficiency skills and to provide an additional placement opportunity.


PROGRAM SPECIFICATIONS:

Average length of stay for completion of the program is 6 months to one year, with emphasis placed on ninety (90) consecutive days of stabilization

  • 10 children per cottage
  • Direct care staff to child ratio is 1: 3.33 during the day and 1:10 at night (awake staff)
  • 24-hour supervision by trained staff

POPULATION SERVED:
  • 20 Males: Age 7 - 18 with IQ Range 75 and above
  • 10 Females: Age 7 - 18 with IQ Range 75 and above
